270 A-B Box

The DOD 270 A-B Box is a relatively simple (passive operation) accessory allowing one to switch between two audio inputs to one output, or one input between two outputs. The 270 was introduced in the 1970s and was one of three accessories retained as part of the "AC" series when DOD discontinued their initial series of effects pedals in favor of the FX-series in 1982. At least six cosmetic variants were produced, including the final (made in China?) VAC series, which was produced into the early 2000s.
- Controls: DPDT switch; three 1/4" jacks (A, B, and Common)
- From an early 1980s DOD catalog: "The A-B Box 270 is used for switching an instrument from one channel to another. It can be a pre-set switch between two channels of an amplifier ... [assuming the channels have separate inputs]. It can also switch between amplifiers, microphones, speakers, special effects, or instruments, turning one instrument on while disconnecting the second."
