FX70 Stereo Flanger

FX70 Stereo Flanger, from 1983

The FX70 Stereo Flanger was one of the original ten DOD FX-series pedals that debuted in 1982. Like the DOD FX60 Stereo Chorus, the FX70 offered stereo output (although a stereo 1/4" plug is required, as with the FX60). Compared to other contemporary flangers, such as the Boss BF-2 (released in 1980), the FX70's flanging effect was rather timid, probably due to the lack of Width (Depth) and Delay (Manual) controls. Combined with its relatively high list price (the FX70 had the highest list price among DOD's original ten FX-series pedals), the FX70 probably did not sell as well as hoped. With the introduction of the FX75 Stereo Flanger in 1984, the FX70 became the first FX-series pedal to be discontinued.
